Lavasoft Ad Aware Anniversary

Ad-Aware has long been one of the preeminent names in the spyware removal field. This new free version of its retail anti-spyware program continues to display the excellent spyware detection and removal abilities that have made the program so successful. The program is very user-friendly - its main function, the spyware scan, is quick and the results are easy to understand. It does a good job of ignoring false positive results and of presenting the user with enough information to decide whether or not a program is a threat. While some features are restricted to the paid version, notably the scheduler, the rootkit detector, and the network scan option, the basic features offered in the free version are more than enough to make this a good choice for any user.
